あてずいりょう【当て推量】

a guess; a (mere) conjecture; guesswork.

●とんでもない当て推量 a wild guess; a mere shot in the dark.

●当て推量で by guess [guesswork]

・当て推量で物を言ってはいけない. You mustn't jump to conclusions like that. | You mustn't speak off the top of your head (without any evidence).

●当て推量をする guess; make a shot in the dark; make a random guess; 《文》 hazard a conjecture.

●まったくの当て推量です. It is pure guesswork.

・当て推量にすぎません. It's mere [no more than] guesswork.
